• Phone Number: Your WhatsApp phone number for message delivery
• Messages: Text messages and images you send to Memly via WhatsApp
• Memories: Information you ask us to remember, including reminders, notes, recommendations, and facts about people
• Images: Photos you share with us for analysis and storage

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our service
• Store and retrieve your memories as requested
• Send you reminders at your requested times
• Analyze images to extract useful information
• Respond to your messages and queries
• Send you service-related communications

4. AI Processing

To provide our service, we use artificial intelligence to understand your messages and analyze images. Here's how this works:

• Message Understanding: Your messages are processed through OpenRouter (using Claude by Anthropic) to understand intent and extract structured information
• Image Analysis: Images are analyzed using Claude to extract text, identify document types, and capture relevant details
• Search Embeddings: We use OpenAI to create vector embeddings that enable semantic search of your memories
• Anonymization: When sending data to AI providers, we do not include your personal identifiers. Your content is processed but not linked to your identity

AI providers may process your data according to their own privacy policies. We use these services solely to provide functionality and do not allow them to use your data for training purposes where we have the option to opt out.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely:

• Hosting: Our servers are hosted by Hetzner in the European Union
• File Storage: Images and files are stored on Hetzner S3-compatible object storage
• Database: Your memories and account data are stored in a PostgreSQL database with encryption at rest
• Transmission: All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Vonage (Nexmo): For WhatsApp message delivery and phone verification
• WhatsApp: As the messaging platform (operated by Meta)
• Postmark: For transactional email delivery
• OpenRouter: For AI message processing (Claude by Anthropic)
• OpenAI: For generating search embeddings
• Hetzner: For server hosting and S3 storage

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. You can delete individual memories at any time through the app or by messaging us. If you wish to delete your entire account and all associated data, please contact us at hello@getmemly.com.

As we are based in the European Union, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
